I have always gone between manual and electric shavers. I always prefer the manual becasue they seem 2 cut alot alot closer. I do, however, have, and have used many different models of electrics. I only usually use my electric if iam in a hurry, or do not have ben pressed 4 money 2 shop, or am out of refill cartridges for my gillette fusion razor. I have tried the electrics in both the phillips norelco, rotary shave, and the braun foil shavers. I do not recomend ever using a foil shaver if you choose electric, as the screen is very fragile, cracks far 2 easily, and serious facial injury could occur from the cutting system of any electric shaver coming in contact wiht skin. The rotary shavers such as the phillips norelco do a descent job if used right, and I prefer 2 use a pre shave lubrication, it stands the whiskers up, setting up the beard for a closer shave. This still, however, does not seem 2 do the job that a manual razor, along with a foam or gel does. I prefer a razor any day. Those of you interrested in getting a rotary shaver, make sure it is a phillips norelco brand!! remington makes the same triple head rotary shaver, and they tend 2 be a little cheaper then the norelco, and as I would expect, do a crapier job!!
I prefer the razor over electric. Here are the reasons for this. Manual razors shave much closer then electric shavers due to the fact that the cutting system of an electric shaver is guarded by a foil, or comb. However, many of the newer electric shavers, especially the rotary shave system consisting of 3 rotary heads, with the cutting system under them, have an improved lift and cut deal which allows them to lift the skin before cutting it. The manual razors alwasy get the closest, however, because the blade is the closest thing to the skin. Choosing and buying a manual razor is often much easier and more cost effective. They range from 2-5 blades, and are usually made as disposable or interchangable. What is not as cost effective is that the cartrige, interchangable, replacable razors, often can be expensive 2 replace the blades. A razor also requires shaving cream, or a gel 2 allow for a more comfortable shave, where as an electric shaver does not require the use of any water, cream, or anything 2 shave. The electric may save money over a period of time, however, it may be a very expensive one that wood last a long enugh time 2 where the man is saving money. I have found that with the electrics, there are a few things 2 consider when buying them...... There are usually 2 typoes of electric shavers, the first is the triple head rotary shave system, which Ive mentioned above, that have the 3 heads underneath 3 rounded gaurds. The other are the foil shavers, which consist of an oscillating cutter system underneath a foil screen, both systems, the hairs enter the heads/foils 2 be cut. The rotary shave system seems 2 do a better job if u have not shaved in a few days, and will cut longer hairs, where as the use of the foil shaver seems 2 require almost daily shaving in order 2 gfet a close shave, or any @ all.
